Description
Sweep is an AI coding assistant built specifically for JetBrains IDEs by founders Kevin Lu and William Zeng, who started the company through Y Combinator in 2023. After an early version that turned GitHub issues into pull requests, the team focused Sweep on a fast autocomplete and an in-editor agent for IntelliJ, PyCharm, and other JetBrains tools. Sweep runs its own fine-tuned model and reads the JetBrains code index, so completions account for the surrounding project and arrive with low latency.
Key Capabilities:
Next-edit autocomplete from a custom model tuned for sub-100ms suggestions
Project indexing that grounds completions in the wider codebase
An in-editor agent that plans and applies multi-file changes
Code review and commit-message generation inside the IDE
Coverage across IntelliJ, PyCharm, WebStorm, GoLand, and other JetBrains IDEs
A private inference path that keeps code from being retained by third parties
