Description
𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐫 is a code editor built by Anysphere, a San Francisco company founded in 2022 by four former MIT students. It forks VS Code and rebuilds the editor around AI, giving developers direct access to coding models, codebase retrieval, and agents inside the same workspace they use to write software. 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐫 targets the friction of switching between planning, prompting, and editing across files in large repositories.
Key Capabilities:
✓ Multi-file editing through Composer, which applies natural-language changes across files in one pass ✓ Codebase indexing and retrieval using **𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐫**'s embedding model for repo-aware answers ✓ 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐫 Tab autocomplete model that predicts edits across multiple lines and files ✓ Local and cloud agent sessions accessible from desktop, web, mobile, Slack, GitHub, and Linear ✓ Multi-model access covering OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, xAI, and 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐫's Composer 2 ✓ @ context system for referencing files, folders, docs, and MCP plugins inside prompts ✓ VS Code extension, theme, and keybinding compatibility with Privacy Mode for code handling
