CrewAI
Role-based framework for orchestrating multi-agent teams
CrewAI is profiled here as a Agentic Capabilities tool for engineering teams. Read about features, pricing, and how it compares to related options in the tools directory.
Description
CrewAI is an open-source Python framework for multi-agent systems created by Joao Moura in 2023. Developers define agents with roles, goals, and tools, then compose them into crews that divide a task the way a human team would. Flows add event-driven, fine-grained control for production pipelines, and a commercial platform handles deployment, monitoring, and a no-code studio for business users. The framework runs standalone without LangChain dependencies, and built-in training tools let crews improve from execution feedback over repeated runs.
Key Capabilities:
Role-based agent definitions with goals, backstories, and delegated tasks
Flows for event-driven orchestration and precise state control
Tool library plus custom tool support for external actions
Short-term, long-term, and entity memory for agents
Human-in-the-loop checkpoints inside crew execution
MIT-licensed framework with an enterprise deployment platform
