Description
Featureform is an open-source virtual feature store, created by Simba Khadder and formerly known as StreamSQL, that turns a team's existing data infrastructure into a feature store without replacing it. Data scientists define features, labels, and training sets in code, and Featureform orchestrates the transformations on the systems a team already runs while standardizing how features are named, versioned, and served. The project is licensed under the MPL, and Redis acquired Featureform in 2025 to bring real-time feature serving to its data platform.
Key Capabilities:
A virtual feature store layered over existing data infrastructure
Feature, label, and training-set definitions managed as versioned code
Orchestration of transformations on Spark, Snowflake, and other engines
Immutable, versioned features for safe reuse across teams
Low-latency serving for features in production inference
Role-based access control, lineage, and audit logging
